Frequently asked questions
Short answers about the data, its limits and your account.
Where does the data come from?
From the City of Austin public zoning review case and site plan review case data layers. Case pages link to the City record when the source includes a link.
How often is it refreshed?
The data is refreshed by the RezoneWatch pipeline, and the time of the latest successful refresh is shown on every search and case page. During early access refreshes are run by the operator rather than on a fixed public schedule.
Which area do you cover?
Cases filed with the City of Austin. Searches outside the city return no results.
How is distance measured?
From your point to the nearest edge of the case boundary. A point inside a boundary has a distance of zero and the case is listed as on this property.
Why is a case listed as "Same project"?
Because City records link it to a case on your property: filed together, the same parcel or folder, a reference in the case record, or a site plan that followed a rezoning in the same place. Site plan to zoning links are matched by location and timing and are marked provisional.
Can I search by address?
You can search addresses that appear in City zoning case records. If address matching is enabled on this site, other street addresses are matched too, and the result says how the point was found. You can always paste coordinates from a map.
Do you show who applied?
No. Applicant and owner names are withheld, even where the City record contains them.
Will you e-mail me?
Not during early access. When alerts launch, an address receives alerts only after it confirms through a link (double opt-in), and every alert has a one-click unsubscribe link.
Is RezoneWatch legal or zoning advice?
No. It organizes public records. Confirm anything important with the City and your own advisers.
What does it cost?
It is free during early access. Paid plans will be announced before launch.
